Gratitude Sitar Concert, India, Pune- June 22, 1980

The purpose of this concert is to express my heart-felt feelings to towards the rare qualities of love and compassion very much alive in Smt. Hirabai Badodekar.

 

Smt. Hirabai Barodekar attended the performance of Chandrakant Sardeshmukh, accompanied by Pt. Arjun Shejwal on Pakhvaj and Pt. Kashinath Mishra on Tabla. Sitar recital with Tabla and Pakhavaj simultaneously in absolutely rare in India.

Versatile Sitar recital

On June 22, Pt. Chandrakant Sardeshmukh gave an enthralling Sitar recital at Tilak Smarak Mandir. The programme was in the nature of tributes to Mrs. Hirabai Barodekar on the occasion of her 75 birthday. Mr. Ganpatrao Nalawade, former mayor of Pune, was the chief guest.

Hirabai was all praise for the talent displayed by Pt. sardeshmukh event at any early age of five years.

On this occasion, Pt. Chandrakant rendered Alap, Joads and Gat in Malkauns in Rupak tal to the accompaniment of Tabla and a tune in Raag Joag in Chantal to the accompaniment of Pakhawaj. Later, he played Bhairair tunes in Tintal and Adital to the joint accompaniment of Tabla and Pakhawaj.
