Dr. Chandrakant Sardeshmukh
Sitar Player and Indian Musician

Condolence to Aliakbar Khan Sahib

One of our musical contacts informed us that the news about great maestro Ali Akbhar Khan sahib being no more in this world was announced in India.

It is a great loss to the world of music. He was a legend and not only his family members but several of his students are going to miss him and many budding musicians will be feeling sad to miss learning from him directly.

Although he is not amongst us physically I am sure generations are going to remember him. He and his music is immortal.
He, made a mark not only in the United States but equally all over the world, through his wonderful performances, teachings and compositions and also has left wonderful legacy - children and disciples.

Khan Sahib was more than just a great musician, he was a wonderful person; he was always so kind and considerate to all around him. Chandrakant has his fond and loving memories as Alumama of his childhood in Mumbai in 1960's when he frequently met with and listened to Khan Sahib so closely while taking lessons from Pandit Ravi Shankar and Ma Annapurna devi.

It was just a few days ago that we met with him together with all of you. Such a wonderful memory! The conversation is still in our hearts and ears and we both and Ashish (my brother) were so happy to see him talking with enthusiasm and with lots of energy.

It is tough to think of life of all of you and that of AMMP without him and his guidance. Alam and Manek are there to follow his footsteps and we pray
God to give you all strength to bear this.

Although we are far away in Tokyo, or travelling, we are always there in spirit with all of you. If there is anything that we can do to help you or AMMP in anyway, please do not hesitate to write to us or call us at anytime.

Alongwith Baba and Sharada Maa, you all and Khan Sahib are in our daily thoughts and prayers

With our deepest sympathy,
Pooja and Chandrakant Sardeshmukh
